The Roots of KISS’D Bakery
Long before Tisha Rock ever preheated her home oven for business purposes, she was learning the art of the "neighborly bake" in the small country town of Lawtey, Florida. It was a place where doors were rarely locked, and no one ever went hungry. Due to her parents' work schedules, Tisha spent much of her formative years at her Grandma’s side, watching as flour and sugar were transformed into symbols of love.
In the nurturing spirit of their community, Grandma always made more than enough. Tisha and her cousins served as the delivery crew, pulling a little Red Wagon down dirt roads to share warm meals and fresh treats with neighbors in need. It was behind that wagon that Tisha discovered her true calling: baking as an act of service.
More Than Just a Fundraiser
KISS’D Bakery didn’t start in a boardroom; it started as a college fund fundraiser for her daughter. But as the business grew, Tisha realized that the love baked into each product reached far beyond profit. Today, KISS’D is a living extension of the values Tisha learned as a child:
- Community: Building bridges through shared experiences.
- Concern & Encouragement: Providing a "sweet" reminder that someone cares.
- Dependability: A commitment to quality you can taste in every bite.
"The love that goes into our kitchen isn't just a secret ingredient—it's our entire mission - just like Grandma's." — Tisha Rock
The Name
While Tisha was pondering a business name, her social media feed was full of bakers who created unbelievably gorgeous, elaborate custom cakes. Customization is not one of her skills, so the phrase "Keep It Simple" came to mind. As she continued to think about a business name, she began to remember how her Grandma gave what she had. She never tried to be grander than what she was. Everyone who received food or any other acts of love from her modest generosity appreciated her greatly - not everyone or every occasion needs the big and elaborate. That's where the business name came from - Keep It Simple and Sweet Delectables (K.I.S.S.'D) Bakery, and the tag line - Just Like Grandma's.
Life in Jacksonville
Today, Tisha calls Jacksonville, Florida, home. Alongside her husband and children, she has cultivated a family life that mirrors her childhood—one centered on food, caring, and the joy of sharing with others.
